Team Record Requirements

All team records must be rowed on a Concept2 RowErg with or without Slides or skied on a Concept2 SkiErg. This equipment must sit on a level surface. Modifications to the machine that alter its performance are not allowed. Please check with Concept2 if you are unsure.

Team Categories

We recognize records in the following categories:

  1. Tandem (2 people)
  2. Small team (3–10 people)
  3. Large team (over 10 people)

Gender

In each of the above categories the team may be men, women or mixed (at least 1/3 men and 1/3 women). In addition, mixed teams must have both the collective men and collective women each rowing or skiing at least 1/3 of the time for a time based record or 1/3 of the distance for a distance based record.

Weight Class (RowErg records only)

Lightweight teams must consist of all lightweight members. Any records achieved by a team of both heavyweight and lightweight rowers will count as a heavyweight record. In accordance with regulations from on water events and indoor rowing championships around the world, lightweights must be weighed in no earlier than two hours before their row. Records from lightweights weighed prior to two hours before their row will not be recognized.

  • Lightweight Women: <= 135lbs (61.5kg)
  • Heavyweight Women: > 135 lbs (61.6kg)
  • Lightweight Men: <= 165lbs (75kg)
  • Heavyweight Men: > 165lbs (75kg)

Age Categories

We recognize records for each event in ten year age categories (20–29, 30–39, 40–49, etc), as well as a Junior category for those aged 19 and under. For the Junior category, all team members must be 19 or under on the day of the record attempt. For all other age categories, the age of the youngest team member determines the age category of the record. No one 19 or under will be considered for a record in an age category above their age.

Nationality

For the purposes of identifying a team's nationality, the majority of the team must be at least 75% of the same nationality. For example, for British and Irish ultra-distance records, the team's members must be at least 75% British or 75% Irish, respectively.

Requirements

  • Use a single Concept2 RowErg or SkiErg with Performance Monitor (PM5, PM4 or PM3). If using a PM3, we recommend that you upgrade to firmware version 88 or above.
  • The flywheel cannot stop spinning until your attempt is complete.
  • The documentation for your record must include your logsheet of who rowed/skied, when they rowed/skied, what the Performance Monitor read (meters/time) when they started and ended their session, including age and weight class. Have the log signed by a witness who can verify the performance.
  • Tandem (2-person) attempts must have both athletes rowing/sking at least 40% or more of the time for the 24 Hour Row/Ski and Longest Continual Row/Ski and 40% or more of the total meters for the 100,000 Meter Row/Ski or Million Meter Row/Ski.
  • Send us the results from your USB flash drive or LogCard in the form of a .csv file, or send your signed manual record along with a photo, if possible, and copies of or links to any publicity that your record attempt received.
  • New records are recognized with a special certificate of achievement.
